How much will it cost?

We are not a bulk billing practice. You will be required to pay for your consultation on the day. Initial consultations are charged at $220-300 and subsequent consultations are $90-150. Fees may be discounted for aged pensioners and on a discretionary basis. Fees for all procedures will be advised at the time of booking.

What if I don't have private health insurance?

All our doctors have public hospital appointments and will be able to offer treatment in the public hospital system.

Can bowel cancer be cured?

Accepted Answer

More than 50% of patients diagnosed with bowel cancer will be cured. The chance of cure depends on the stage of the disease at diagnosis. This will be determined by a CT scan and pathology testing after surgery.

Does rectal bleeding mean I have bowel cancer?

Accepted Answer

Bleeding may be a symptom of bowel cancer. However, there are many other simple causes for rectal bleeding. Your specialist will advise about the likely cause of your bleeding and whether you need further investigation to determine the cause of the bleeding.

Do I need a colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy may be indicated for patients with:
A persisting change in bowel function
Rectal bleeding
A family history of bowel cancer
A personal history of adenomatous polyp
Unexplained weight loss or abdominal symptoms
